The Benefits of Living Positively

Positive psychology often is passed off as pop psychology or New Age-y by those who haven’t actually looked into it. The actual theory behind positive psychology was defined in 1998 by Martin Seligman and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi [1] and looks at all aspects of a person’s psychology. It does not discount traditional psychology, nor supersede it. Rather than viewing psychology purely as a treatment for the malign, however, it looks at the positive. Positive psychology is a recognized form of therapy and is offered by some counselors and psychologists. Psychology has always been interested in where people’s lives have gone wrong, and what has resulted because of it [2]. Illnesses such as depression are well-documented and patterns of depressive behavior well-known. However, until recently, wh...

Positivity is a Powerful Asset

A positive outlook on life is arguable one of the most powerful assets you can have. Positive people expect success, good health, happiness, wealth and good relationships and those things tend to show up in their lives. This is not because they are already successful, or because they are more confident and thus more outgoing, it is simply the attitude. This is a basic law of attraction: positive thoughts breed positive results. Your thoughts are much more powerful than just electric signals between synapses, they affect your life and those around you!

Having a Positive Attitude Can Add Years to Your Life

One study says that having a positive attitude can add years to your life. Up to 8 years in fact… This particular study ran by an American University looked at positive attitude and it’s relationship specifically to aging, and the patience’s attitude about aging in general. What they found is that optimists have a much longer future in store for them. Having a positive attitude was seen to have a large impact on lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, which alone can increase your life by four years. The study also showed that people with more positive thoughts about aging actually lived longer. In other words, those individuals who had a positive attitude toward aging, long before they began aging, benefitted the most. “It is important to participate in enjoyable activi...

Momo Nekava: Fighter for the Rights of the Disabled People and Society

“My Life, My Struggle” by Momo Nekava Hello to you. My name is Shlomo (Momo) and I was born in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1954 to a war-torn family struggling to raise 11 children. At the age of 5 months, I was hit by the polio bacteria and was left crippled for the remainder of my life. Back in that era, and in that part of the world, modern medicine was not able to help me. I had been relegated to a life of wheelchairs, crutches, and the label of being defective by society. To say that it was easy to isolate and feel sorry for myself would be an understatement. Life was not easy for my family and life was certainly not easy for me. Paying for food to keep our family alive in a newly-established country was extremely difficult, let alone pay for my basic necessities as a handicapped ...

Positive Mind… Positive Life

“A negative mind will never give you a positive life.”   It really couldn’t be more simple.  If you think negative, if you are negative, things in your life will be negative.   You won’t see the positive in life because you will be so focused in on the negative.  Negative energy, negative thinking, and negative attitudes and outlooks can be so consuming and so blinding, they can prevent positive things from happening, or make up unable to realize if something positive is sitting right in front of you.  The best thing about positive and negative attitudes are that you have the ability to choose which one you want.

A Positive Attitude is like a flat tire…

“A positive attitude is like a flat tire.  Good luck going anywhere until you change it.” This statement couldn’t be any more true… Bad attitudes slow you down, get in your way, and even prevent you from getting where you are going all together.  The only way to pick up the pace, and go forward smoothly, and in the right direction is to change your attitude.  Change the way you think about things, and how you look at them.  Change your approach to them and what you take away from them.  Positivity is like fuel.  Its like an engine that drives you forward.  It’s like air in your tires…  it will get you where you are going.
