Postive Attitude Increases Exercise

Attitude is everything, at least for people with heart disease, a new study suggests. The research, published in the journal Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes, shows that having a positive attitude is tied to a longer life and greater likelihood of exercising among coronary artery disease patients. “We should focus not only on increasing positive attitude in cardiac rehabilitation, but also make sure that patients perform exercise on a regular basis, as exercise is associated with both increased levels of optimism and better health,” study researcher Susanne S. Pedersen, Ph.D., professor of cardiac psychology at Tilburg University in the Netherlands, said in a statement. An Hour a Day Keeps Heart Failure Away

The American Heart Association has just reported in a study that began back in 1997 that an hour of exercise a day could lower your risk of heart failure by 46%.    Males are at greater risk for heart failure, but increased physical activity was equally beneficial for both genders. You don’t have to run a marathon or become a body builder to prevent heart disease, but moderate to vigorous physical activity, will reduce your chances drastically… even more when combined with a healthy diet.   Studies had shown that even low levels of activity were more effective in reducing heart failure then no level of activity.  So next time, take the stairs, leave the car at home and go for a stroll, or join your local yoga class… every step you take is a step toward a a healthy heart.

Boston Strong: 2014 Boston Marathon Brings Positive Attitudes Together!

With the commencement of the 2014 Boston Marathon, we couldn’t be more proud of the moral, sportsmanship, dedication and hard work that went into every step of it’s 30,000+ competitors to complete their 26.2 mile journey.   It was clearly an epic day for all. The energy before the race was clearly electric.  Fans were confident that this would be the best year yet… putting well behind them the tragedy that struck last year’s race.   Being one of the biggest and most exciting race days for Boston, both competitors and spectators made an even greater connection then ever with each other.  The cheers and hi-fives were endless along the stretch of the entire 26.2 mile course…  more than 36000 people ran the race this year, which is over 9,000 more than last year! ...
