Attitude Problem

9 Reasons You Should Stop Judging Others NOW

It’s happened from time to time… you’ve looked at another person and judged them for who or what they are, their actions, behaviors, life decisions… you name it, you may have judged someone for it.  You may confuse “judging” someone with having actual concern for them, and there is a big difference.  When you are concerned for someone, you still think the best of them and know who they are, you just voice your opinion to help them head in the right direction or to avoid making, what you believe, to be a mistake.  When you judge someone, you assign a value to them, positive (but usually negative) and let that judgement cloud your opinion of them and how you feel about them or act toward them.  But you need to stop this now and here’s why: 1. Nocebo Effect: The Damage Caused by Negative Thinking, Just Because You Believe

Medical experiments are required to have a control group in order to validate the results. Participants are given something innocuous like a sugar pill and are not told whether they’ve received the medicine or the placebo. In many cases, patients who receive the placebo will respond to treatment as though they had received the medicine. Their bodies physiologically respond to the pill because they believed they were receiving the treatment. This is known as the placebo effect. The nocebo effect is a lesser-known occurrence that is an evil twin of the placebo effect. Nocebo in Latin means ‘I will harm;’ it is the opposite of placebo, ‘I will please.’ A nocebo is a neutral element that is given with the suggestion that it will do you harm. In thinking that they are given something harmful, p...

How to Forgive Yourself For Mistakes

Self-forgiveness is about allowing yourself to move forward once you’ve acknowledged your folly and done your best to make amends. If you’ve done something hurtful—lied to your partner, offended a friend, belittled a co-worker—the “let it go” advice when it comes to your guilty ruminating is naive, if not unethical. Shame, sorrow and self-blame may be warranted after you’ve wronged someone. But it’s not healthy—or productive—to hold on to those feelings forever. Self-forgiveness has been related to lower levels of anxiety, mood disturbances, hostility and rumination. Whether or not the other person forgives you, can you forgive yourself? To be clear, self-forgiveness is not about assuaging your guilt or sidestepping responsibility. (Although if you’re the brooding, overthinking type, it’s ...

Learn the Science Behind How Positive and Negative Thoughts Physically Change Your Brain: And Why Your Happiness and Health Depends on a Positive Attitude

A man named Steve Parton from CuriousApes.com wrote a brilliant article about how your thoughts shape your brain, and we thought it extremely essential to share this information with our readers to drive home how necessary it is to not only THINK POSITIVE, but to avoid thinking negative. They not only shape it, they reshape it, continuously. Every time you have a thought, an experience, learn something, your brain has changed. And you may say, “Sure… I know this,” but what you may not know is this isn’t just a figurative concept, its physical. Your thoughts literally, change your brain. Lets discover how. In your brain there is a collection of synapses separated by empty space called the synaptic cleft. Whenever you have a thought, one synapse shoots a chemical across the cleft, or empty s...

Step Three to Positivity: Living Optimistically!

Having a positive outlook is a choice. You can choose to think thoughts that elevate your mood, throw a more constructive light on difficult situations, and generally color your day with brighter, more hopeful approaches to the things you do. By choosing to take a positive outlook on life, you can begin to shift out of a negative frame of mind and see life as filled with possibilities and solutions instead of worries and obstacles. If you want to know how to think more positively, just follow these tips. 1. Remember that thinking positively takes time. Developing a positive outlook is actually the development of a skill. You’re not born thinking negatively –– it happens over time as you absorb the world around you, including how you were raised, educated, and treated through life. As...

How Contagious is Your Attitude?

Simply put, whether you realize it or not, your positive attitude is very contagious.  Even more so than the common cold.  It can be caught spontaneously – simply by infecting yourself with optimism and making the conscious decision to look at the bright side of things.   And it can be very easily transferred to others by example and through positive actions, words, thoughts, acts of kindness, and encouragement.  But be careful, negativity can be spread just as easily.  Motivational speakers make a living through spreading their positive energy to groups of people all at once, while bullies are people who purposely attempt to spread their own negative and poor attitudes to others to make them feel bad. You can catch bad attitudes from others: Have you ever been in a great mood while ...

Robin Williams with one Final Act of Charity

The legacy of Robin Williams will live on long after his death, with gifts of laughter and gifts of charity.   The late actor donated a custom-made Pegorette bicycle to the Hotbed Benefit, which took place last Saturday night in Tiburon, California.  The event collected proceeds for 10,000 Degrees, an organization that provides educational opportunities for low income students The bike, along with an autographed hat from the film “Night at the Museum” raised $20,000 and will pay for two students to attend college for a year.
